What is OOS?
(Out-Of-Scope)

OOS stands for Out-Of-Scope and means that the Point of Sale Software does not store or transmit payment card data electronically. The card information must be entered on a Secure Payment Device and transmitted through Secure PA-DSS Gateways to the Merchants Payment Processors.

OOS removes the Point of Sale software from the scope of PA-DSS compliance.
Merchants need only complete SAQ C (41 questions) versus SAQ D (200 questions) when using Mercury Payment Systems (MPS) Out-Of-Scope with E2E and MToken (Tokenization) solution.
With MPS MToken, ComCash Classic card processing functions are expanded.

ComCash Classic supports over a dozen OOS Payment Processors.

What is EMV®?

EMV® is a global standard for credit and debit payment cards based on chip card technology" taking its name from the card schemes Europay, MasterCard, and Visa.

When configured EMV, transactions are also OOS. With EMV and OOS, credit and debit card fraud risk is greatly reduced over traditional card devices and methods.

From Visa.com:
When you upgrade to chip technology, you continue to be protected from counterfeit fraud losses. Starting October 1, 2015, businesses that don't accept Visa chip card transactions may be responsible for any resulting counterfeit fraud.
//End Visa.com

The same applies to the other Credit and Debit processors.

EMV US is mostly CHIP and SIGNATURE versus Europe which is CHIP and PIN.

Do I have to convert to EMV?

EMV is not a law, it is a Liability Shift.

Whether you are a ComCash Classic customer or not, if you want to reduce your counterfeit fraud risk and liability it's a must. The final decision should be based on your customers, the amount of credit/debit transactions, processing considerations and prior fraud history.

If I convert to OOS or EMV can I use my current card devices?

The VeriFone VX805, Ingenico ISC250, IPP330, IPP350 and the MagTek E2E will process cards when configured in OOS. The VX805, ISC250, IPP330 and IP350 will process EMV Chip Cards and require specific processor encryption and loads.

Age Check - Keep your current standard card swipes for Age Check.
The new devices will not pass license information.

ComCash Classic does support existing card devices when configured PCI Enabled and will continue to support existing customers.

As of 1/25/2018 the VX805 is EMV certified for over 10 Payment Processors and the Ingenico ISC250, IPP330, IPP350 are EMV certified for over 10.

Other EMV Payment Processors will be added as they become available by the Gateway Processor.
All available Payment Processors work in OOS with the VX805, ISC250, IPP330 and IP350.

If I convert to OOS or EMV what changes will I see and what are the requirements ?

Processing Requirements:
1. The first notable change is the CARD Tender Screen.
In OOS and EMV the Cashier selects the Tender Button and everything else happens at the Device.

The Cashier will not see the card names like Visa or Master Card etc.
Instead the Cashier will see Credit Sale, Credit Sale Manual, Debit Sale, Debit Sale/CashBack etc.
Once selected the Device will accept the card (Swipe, Tap, *EMV Insert, Manual w/wo Pin entry if configured) and communicate with the Secure Gateway. When card processing is complete, ComCash Classic receives the response and if approved we process, post and print any configured sales receipts or required payment receipts.

Once a Tender is selected by the Cashier everything else is done at the Device including Cancel.

2. The second notable change is EMV Payment Receipts:
Per EMV Gateway Specifications, processing with a non-signature device (VX805) requires that the Customer and Merchant payments receipts be configured, print formatted, signed and kept if there is a "PrintData" response from the Gateway. This applies to non-chip cards too.

The Credit/Debit Card Payment Header when configured in EMV must be:
Company Name
Address
City, State, Zip
Phone Number

The EMV Credit/Debit Footer settings can be anything the Merchant wants.
OOS Payment Receipts have no requirements and can be anything the Merchant wants.

3. Pre-Auth/Post-Auth available in OOS are replaced with Verify Card (Zero-Auth) in EMV.
4. Credit Card Numbers (except the last 4 digits) and Expiration Dates are no longer available.
5. Credit Card on File goes away.
6. Recurring Billing goes away for now. We may add multi tokenization to bring it back.

Setup Requirements:
1. The new Devices configured for the Merchants Processor
2. Gateway License per register for Credit Cards (includes Debit and other Pin Card Tenders)
3. Gateway License per register for Gift Cards where applicable.
4. The latest version of ComCash Classic - Available through Technical Support.
5. OOS or EMV/Header configured

OOS/EMV STATUS Configuration Updates

Chip Credit and Debit Chip Cards will be required to be inserted.
Standard Credit Cards, EBT, EBT Cash and Gift Cards are processed normally through a Swipe and the new NFC (Apple Pay, Android Pay etc) transactions are processed through the device.

the Ingenico ISC250, IPP330 and IPP350 are EMV certified for over 10.

All other Payment Processors and Devices are configured OOS.
When Gateways and Devices become EMV certified,
